The Ohio Medicaid Precertification Manual has been developed to give Ohio hospitals and providers the latest information regarding what procedures require precertification, who to call for precertification, and the information necessary to perform a precertification. Much of this work was accomplished through the implementation of focused studies (studies that "focus" on a particular population or disease). Permedion nurse abstractors reviewed records requested from managed care plans to identify patterns and measure performance against accepted processes or standards of care.
